Arizona Fallen Hero Memorial Riders Memorial Monument Repair & Support Program

The purpose of this program is to ensure that memorial monuments remain dignified, accessible, and meaningful places of remembrance for families, friends, and the community. By offering maintenance support and funding assistance for new monuments, the Arizona Fallen Hero Memorial Riders aim to honor the ultimate sacrifice of our heroes and support the communities that remember them.

Our program is intended to support the repair, upkeep, and enhancement of memorial monuments honoring Arizona’s fallen first responders and military service members. This initiative also includes grant opportunities of up to $2,000 to assist with the creation of new monuments. These efforts reflect our continued commitment to preserving the memory and legacy of Arizona heroes who gave their lives in service to their communities and country.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Existing monuments must be located within the state of Arizona.
  • New monument grant applications must demonstrate public accessibility and relevance to honoring fallen Arizona first responders or service members.
  • Applicants must provide a brief description of the proposed work or project, photographs (if applicable), and estimated cost breakdown.

Program Components

  • Monument Repair and Upkeep: Assistance for repairs, cleaning, landscaping, and general maintenance of existing memorials.
  • Monument Update and Enhancement: Support for adding new names, updating plaques, improving visibility or accessibility.
  • New Monument Grants: Grants up to $2,000 awarded to communities, organizations, or families seeking to erect new monuments in honor of Arizona first responders or military service members killed in the line of duty.
  • New monument must demonstrate public accessibility and relevance to honoring fallen Arizona first responders or service members.

Funding Disbursement

  • Approved applicants will receive funds directly to vendors or as reimbursements.
  • Invoices or receipts are required for reimbursement.
  • Grant recipients for new monuments must sign a grant agreement prior to disbursement.

Project Completion

  • Projects must be completed within 12 months of funding approval.
  • An extension may be requested in writing and is subject to committee approval.

Final Reporting and Documentation

Upon completion, applicants must submit a final report including:

  • Before and after photos
  • Summary of completed work
  • Final expenditures and receipts

Reports are used to evaluate the success and community impact of the program.
