East Maricopa – Route Map

Rider Check-in

Rider check-in will start at 9am on November 2nd at Desert Wind Harley-Davidson, 922 S. County Club, in Mesa. We will have a safety briefing at approximately 9:30am with kickstands up at 9:45am.

We will have a 15-minute stop to regroup at the Chevron Gas Station, 10180 N. Fort McDowell Rd. (SR 87 and Ft. McDowell Road).

We will leave the Chevron Station and proceed north on State Route 87 to Sunflower (34 miles), make a U-turn through median and slow roll past an Arizona DPS Trooper’s monument (approximately Mile Post 218). Please note we will ride in the right lane as much as possible; however, we will switch to left lane at approximately milepost 216. We will make a U-turn in the median and the Road Captain may stop at the brake check area just south of Sunflower to re-group.

We will continue south on 87 to milepost 195 and will stop for memorial ceremonies for fallen Arizona DPS fallen Troopers (approximately 15 to 20 minutes). After the conclusion of the ceremonies, we will continue south on SR 87 to Shea Boulevard. We will turn right on Shea Boulevard and proceed west to J&P Cycle, 8606 E. Shea Blvd. (just west of SR 101 and Shea) We will have an approximate 15-minute break at J&P.

After leaving J&P, we will travel to and stop for memorial ceremonies for the fallen at the Salt River Police/Fire Department, 10005 E. Osborn. After leaving we will travel east on Shea to SR 101 Loop to the Thomas Road exit. We will turn right on to westbound Thomas Road for a stop at the Scottsdale Police Department headquarters, 8401 E. Indian School Road.

After leaving the Police Department, we will travel to the Mesa Community College where we will meet riders from other routes. We will ride together to Desert Wind Harley-Davidson for the final memorial ceremony, recognizing of our veterans, barbecue festivities, and final raffle drawing.

This year at the barbecue we will have our grand prize drawing, live music, steak dinner donated by Texas Roadhouse, 5086 S. Power Rd, and guest speaker, Phoenix Police Department Officer Jason Schechterle to share his amazing story of survival.
