Scholarship Program
Investing in the Future of Families Who Carry the Legacy of Service
When a first responder or service member gives their life in service, their sacrifice changes the future of the family they leave behind.
Arizona law provides an important benefit for some surviving family members by allowing unmarried spouses and children of fallen first responders and military service members to attend Arizona public colleges and universities tuition-free.
This benefit honors the sacrifice made in service to our communities and our nation.
However, one group of family members is often left without support.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren of fallen heroes are not included in this benefit.
Yet these young men and women still carry the legacy of that sacrifice.
The Arizona Fallen Hero Memorial Riders Scholarship Program was created to help close that gap.

Our Mission
The mission of the AZFHMR Scholarship Program is to provide educational assistance to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of fallen first responders and military service members.
Through scholarships and community support, the program helps ensure that future generations have the opportunity to pursue their educational goals while honoring the legacy of the heroes who came before them.
Education creates opportunity, builds stronger communities, and allows the legacy of service to continue through future generations.

Why This Program Matters
The sacrifice of a fallen hero does not stop with one generation.
It echoes through families for years to come.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up hearing stories of courage, commitment, and service from the hero whose legacy they carry forward.
While Arizona law provides tuition assistance for some immediate family members, many descendants of fallen heroes must pursue higher education without the same support.
The AZFHMR Scholarship Program helps ensure that these young men and women know their family’s sacrifice is remembered and that their community believes in their future.
